¿Pueden los colores afectar a tu descanso? - BeZen Mattress & Health

Can colors affect your rest?

The quick answer is yes. Colors, like all sensitive stimuli, have a strong psychological component, which although often not consciously perceptible, affects our way of feelingand acting.

The psychology of color has been analyzed for decades, especially in the world of decoration: have you never noticed that fast food restaurants always use warm colors? Or that gyms tend towards black and white but with big flashes of bright colors like red or green? And in which spas prefer blue ones?

We bring you the best colors for your rest.

The best colors for rooms

The colors that best suit the rooms are those that generate a greater state of relaxation and tranquility. In general, these colors tend to be rather cold (from bluish, green and purple), although, with some exceptions.

Blue, in most of its tones, helps the body relax and regulate circadian rhythms which, after all, are what help you sleep. The memory it produces of the sea and peace plunges the body into sleep. In its lighter variants it greatly expands the space of the rooms (which is why it is recommended in small bedrooms), while dark tones create tranquility but dwarf strong> the room (it is better to use them in large spaces).

Yellow (contrary to what it seems) is the second best color for sleeping. In its softer and lower tones it promotes relaxation of the nervous system.

The silver gray tones are very simple and create a relaxing atmosphere. Some studies prove that silver reflections are reminiscent of moonlight, being the cause of greater production of melatonin. However, it should not be used excessively as it can be very stimulating if it shines too much.

Another of the colors that best suits us to sleep is green, since it provides a natural touch, relaxes the eyes and creates a positive environment that makes us wake up in a better mood .

On the other hand, the worst colors for a bedroom are dark gray, because it causes a feeling of loneliness and restlessness, and strong reddish and orange tones strong>, since they stimulate the brain a lot.

What color do I put the bedding?

The colors mentioned above are also beneficial for bedding. However, a good combination between cold and warmer tones should be made to balance the chromatic range of the bedroom.

In rooms where there are only warm colors there is greater overexcitement and in those where cold and dull colors dominate, there is a more somber and sad atmosphere that can also affect rest.

For example, if you decide to paint the room in a bluish tone, perhaps it would be a good idea to add a duvet cover or some cushions in very soft yellow tones, to create greater harmony.

It is important that the bedding tends towards light tones, since in dark ones it is more difficult to distinguish dirt and there is a tendency to change them less. It is also advisable to change the bedding at least once a week.
